Full Biography
Born in British Guiana, now Guyana, Judy Adams discovered tennis at an early age through her father, who built a modified court in their backyard. That introduction sparked a lifelong involvement in the sport as both a competitor and an instructor.
After attending the Ursuline Convent in Georgetown, Judy continued her education at Southlands Teachers Training College in Wimbledon, England. Following graduation, she taught at an elementary school in South London before relocating to Kingston, Jamaica, where she taught mathematics to middle and high school students.
During her competitive tennis career, Judy won well over 100 singles and doubles tournaments. She represented Guyana twice at Junior Wimbledon, earned “Sportswoman of the Year” recognition in Guyana for both tennis and table tennis, and was a triple champion at the Antillean Indoor in Kingston. She also achieved a No. 3 ranking in her women’s singles age division in Texas.
At High Point, Judy works with young players in the pre-junior development, Future Stars, and Competitive programs. She often travels to watch her students compete, reflecting her continued investment in their development.
Judy has also embraced pickleball and teaches High Point’s Beginner and Advanced Beginner classes. Away from the courts, she enjoys spending time with her cats, gardening, solving jigsaw puzzles, and playing word games.
